Hollywood Tackles Silicon Valley Scion
Instead, the goddess Annapurna Pictures is Megan Ellison, son of 25 years in Silicon Valley, which last year or so is the power that could soon be hundreds of millions of dollars of the hungriest in the world of cinema: the ', producers, writers, directors and stars that are sophisticated dramas and adventure films that are too risky and studies of their corporate owners.
At least six films released in the coming months have received significant support from Ms. Ellison and his company. They include "The Master", a drama about a "There Will Be Blood" cult of Scientology which stars Philip Seymour Hoffman and directed by Paul Thomas Anderson fame. Another major project, currently untitled, refers to the death of Osama bin Laden, is written and produced by Mark Boal and directed by Kathryn Bigelow, the two Oscar winners for "The Hurt Locker."
Earlier this year, Ms. Ellison bought the rights for the well-worn "Terminator" franchise for a reported $ 20 million. It is developing a movie based on "the boy who started the nest," an article about the founder of Wikileaks editor Julian Assange out of the New York Times, Bill Keller.
